Why Glimmer Road?

Why Glimmer Road?

Why Glimmer Road?

A Glimmer is the opposite of a trigger.  It is something that sparks happiness, joy, a feeling of safety.

Many of us live with trauma and have a hard time seeing the glimmers we have every day.  The mission of Glimmer Road is to help people find and appreciate the happiness and joy already in their lives.

Whether you have a wonderful life and want to find new ways to celebrate yourself and your life, or are trying to survive on a daily basis, you are Important and welcome here.

We are all born with a happiness of life.  Look at a baby.  Most will smile and engage with minimal interaction.  They constantly are learning and finding wonders all around them. Many times, we lose that feeling as societal expectations constrain our instincts and creativity.  Even people with a "normal" life will experience trauma of some type.  Societal trauma is all around us. Following the news is enough.

If you have PTSD, cPTSD, or an anxiety based disorder, sometimes we are become so overwhelmed with our triggers, even after the "emergency" is over, we become so hyper vigilant that we miss the good things that are right there and can help slow a spiral (IYKYK).

 What Glimmer Road is:

An invitation to find your personal Road.  Where YOU need to be for yourself.  Finding acceptance of whatever has happened to dim your glimmer, and moving beyond.  Letting go of the "shit happens" parts that really don't matter.  Making the best life you can for yourself and whose are healthy additions to your life.

Putting yourself first and prioritizing self care. Remembering we cannot change anyone else, and have the right and responsibility to protect ourselves from anyone who is harmful to any aspect  of our health, safety and happiness.

What Glimmer Road is not:

This is not therapy, nor meant to replace any therapies that are working for you, but to enhance your day to day life. Glimmers can be elusive when you're in survival mode, and even after completing therapy, the question can become "Now what?" "How does true happiness feel?"  "What do I need to do to feel safe again?"

This is not about toxic positivity.  We ALL have bad days.  Sometimes we have bad weeks, months and even years.  No one can be happy 24/7. Glimmers are about recognizing something positive around us, not specifically finding the lesson, no matter what is going on.

This is not a step by step guide.  If I can figure out a sure fire 12 step program, I WILL post it!  Each path is different. It's about learning to find your inner glimmer, your personal spark. It's in there.  Stress, trauma, and living in survival mode has "hidden it" to protect it.  You have to find your personal key.
